A startup. In a highly competitive industry. That is going after two drastically different marketplaces.

No problem.

Promotional music videos and weddings do not necessarily have a lot of crossover at first glance. But what crossover they do have, lies in the skills of the highly talented men and women behind the camera, and the same level of passion and commitment that goes into the production. That skill and passion is transferable to pretty much anything.

Owner Eric Revill-Dews had another passion in the mix – his favourite film Jaws. He even named his company from one of the most famous lines (“You’re gonna need a bigger boat”). That was the hook we needed to create a strong identity that avoided a clichéd explanation of the business (Say, a bride rocking a guitar and throwing the horns. Eesh).

Through a few rounds of concepts and revisions, we created an icon that nods to where the name comes from whilst also getting over the nature of the business.

With the nature of the business being highly visual, we didn’t want to create a lot of visual dressing. So as well as designing the icon to be thin, clean and not overly obtrusive when placed over the visuals, we stayed away from using a lot of graphical flair, letting the imagery speak for itself.

BBF have really grown into their market, taking scores of bookings and creating some breathtakingly beautiful visual content to boot.
